NEWQHA Year-End Qualifications for Both AQHA and Open Show Programs Revised: 2010
1) Anyone qualifying for year-end awards must be a member in good standing during the current year for NEWQHA. Points and year-end requirements will not accumulate nor tally until membership is paid.
2) Both the member/owner of the horse shown and the exhibitor must be current members of NEWQHA and the Wisconsin Quarter Horse Association, WQHA. (Note: Those competing for Open Show awards are not required to be a member of WQHA, but must fulfill the rest of the listed requirements.)
3) In the case of a family membership, each family member competing for awards must fulfill the requirements. (Ex. Jack, Jill and their daughter Sue are all competing for year end awards. That means three sets of requirements would need to be met in order for each to qualify for those awards). (Note: Leadline, Small Fry and Walk/Trot competitors are exempt from the above situation). Each Member must fulfill one of the following sets of requirements:
a) Attend one (1) meeting & Work a total of (2) hours at the show or committee & Submit two (2) sponsorships of $20.00 each.
b) Attend one (1) meeting & Work a total of four (4) hours at the show or committee & Submit one (1) sponsorship of $20.00 each.
c) Attend one (1) meeting & Work one (1) hour at the show or committee & Submit four (4) sponsorships of $20.00 each.
*To be eligible for the NEWQHA Youth Team, meetings must be completed by the May general meeting.
4) Committee participation will count toward worked hours. When working at one of the NEWQHA sponsored events (Paper Valley Festival, committees, etc) it is your responsibility to sign up at each event with that event secretary or chairperson.
5) Any exception to the above requirements must be in writing and brought to the board by May 15, 2010.
6) The current year for these qualifications is defined as December 2009 through September 2010. There are no regular scheduled meetings in June, July, or August.
7) Submission of sponsorships must be no later than the last day of the Paper Valley Festival.
8) Points: A year-end award will be given as long as there is a minimum of five (5) points earned in that award category. A certificate will be awarded for less than five points.
9) An All-around award will only be given in a category when five (5) or more paid memberships are existing in that category. This is true for AQHA and/or Open show programs. (This does not affect Grand or Reserve awards).
